Just wanted to let you know that I finally have 20 members, albeit 7 of you are friends and family, but the other 13 appear to be stroke survivors! Not that I don’t love my friends and family but I have a question for just the stroke survivors. Is there anyone out there who has had any successes on their survivor journey? If so please let me hear from you. I’m all about helping other survivors and if you have something positive to share that would be great; you just might help someone else feel better about the trip they’re on or give them a goal to go after. Also, if some of you have any questions about your stroke or are having problems; I want to hear from you ,too! Maybe I or another member will have the answer you need to solve the problem.
Anyway, one way or another it would be great to hear from you!
Thanks and have a great week, John
It’s hard for me to believe but out of 13 stroke survivors in my group I only got two likes on the above post to my FB group “Stroke Survivors Successes”, one from a relative and one from a friend/survivor. It seems like every post I put out about wanting people to tell a success story I get nothing, nada! I can’t understand why out of the 750,000 survivors every year at least a tiny amount will have come across this group I know 13 have but they have nothing to say! Don’t know why. Maybe they haven’t had any successes. Sad state of affairs for them. Maybe if you contact me, I can help you get one. Even I have had successes. I loved and now still do love fly fishing but this being a bilateral sport early on I thought I could never fish again having lost the use if my left hand that you use to strip the fly line in. So finally, I looked at my fly rod and said to myself, “Self”, what is it you need to do to compensate for the loss of your left hand? Well, it came to me that I needed to figure out a way to retrieve line. I thought about this for a while and finally it came to me from previous surfing that there are automatic reels that only require one or two fingers to engage the reel to strip the line back into the reel. And there I had it, I can fly fish again after a lot of trial and error. It’s not pretty but I got it to work and this past summer I caught four trout not a lot but it’s a start and I know I’ll get better as I go along!
Hopefully, some of the new visitors will have something to share! I can only hope. Best , John.
